Custom 2.5D Coining Die - Embossing Die for 20 ton Press
Coining is an incredible technique giving your designs exquisite detail!
A 2.5 Dimension coining die consists of two levels, where your design, the detail, will be raised on the finished piece of jewelry. The raised detail should be no more than about 1mm, .040 inches tall. Coining Dies work best with thicker metal, I recommend 12 or 14 gauge. Thinner can be done but the raised portions must be much shorter than 1mm.
This is different than a Debossing/Stamping Die(click here to see this other option) where you are stamping your design "down" into your jewelry metal.
With a 20-Ton press we are limited to coining a piece of metal no greater than 1/3 square inch, or 214 square MM. This would be a circle with approximately .625" diameter, a square with .562" width, a rectangle measuring 4mm x 56mm for a ring band for example or any size no greater than .33 square inches. A larger die can also be made (like with a texture for example) enabling you to press all sorts of different shapes assuming that the pieces you press are no greater in surface area then .33 sq/in.
After you order you will need to provide a good CAD model (2D geometry is acceptable) or a nice and clean black and white drawing complete with all dimensions.
