We can make you your very own pattern plate with your personal design! Your design will never be replicated or sold to anyone else, ever. Our standard Pattern Plate measures 5.9" long x 2" wide but we can also make them smaller or up to 9" long as a special order. Our plates are ultra precision ground out of high quality, durable steel, ensuring you will get the best possible impression on your printed metal and should easily be able to get hundreds of impressions.

Roller Printing is an incredible process that allows you to "Coin" large surface areas in one quick go. It works best with thicker metals, i.e. 12-18 gauge, but thinner metals will work OK with finer detailed plates. These plates can also be used in the hydraulic press to "emboss" or "form" thin metal using polyurethane. Generally you would want to work with smaller surface areas for "embossing" on a 20 ton hydraulic press, up to about 3 square inches works well for thin gauges like 28 or 30 gauge.

Full depth is limited by the process of roller printing, through much experimentation I have found that the depth created is generally no greater than .008 inches or about .25mm. We cut our plates to about .012" of depth, and with thicker metals that are very soft, like fine silver, you may be able to get full depth. For much deeper "coining" a Hydraulic Press Coining Die is needed (limited surface area depending upon press size). Thinner metal does not "flow" into the die as easily and willl require more pressure to get the same results. This will cause the plate to wear much faster. For best plate life you should only roll a sheet the same size as the plate.

Roller Printing and Embossing work best with malleable and ductile metals like sterling silver and higher karat golds, pure copper, and formable brass alloys. We are not responsible for damage caused to your rolling mill, press, or patter plate if you are using hard materials such as titanium, nickel white gold, or steel.

Roller Printing will always cause the sheet to elongate and curve somewhat. Best practice is to roll a sheet of metal the same size as the steel plate and then afterwards, cut out your final shape. If you roll a disc it will become an oval.

Art Requirements: A clean black and white drawing sent as a high resolution Jpeg, Adobe Illustrator, or PDF. Your pattern plate will be a near exact replica of your art so make sure it is high-quality. Our new process for making custom plates creates very crisp sharp and highly detailed plates, ensuring you get all the fine details you want in your work. Text should measure at least 2mm tall to be easily readable. Please submit the art how you want your finished piece of metal to look. We will automatically mirror the art to create the plate.

Being an artist myself who has had numerous designs stolen, I take Intellectual Property and Copyright very seriously. Your design will never be replicated or sold to anyone else, you retain all rights to the artwork. By purchasing a custom pattern plate and submitting your art, you are agreeing that you own the rights to the submitted design.
